Post 364 Annual Report to PWC Board of Supervisors 6/15/2010

•My name is Daniel Eubank.  I reside in Woodbridge, VA in the Occoquan District.  I am here representing American Legion Post 364, Woodbridge, VA. as the 2009-2010 Commander.

Chairman Stewart, members of the board, my fellow citizens: It is my distinct honor to give an annual report to the PWC Board of Supervisors, on American Legion Post 364 in Woodbridge.  We are engaged in the Community in many positive ways.

Post 364 is the 4th largest American Legion Post in the Commonwealth of Virginia with almost 1,500 members; 1,150 Legionnaires, 215 American Legion Auxiliary, and 115 Sons of the American Legion.

Our Post provided instrumental support in the creation of the Counties 911 Memorial here at the McCoart Complex. In fact, the first 911 Ceremony in the County was held at Post 364. PWC partnered in that event.  We had over 100 attendees and honored our own veterans, Blue Star families and those heroes lost.

Post 364 is a longstanding member of the PWC Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a ‘Patriot Sponsor’ of the annual Valor Awards, which recognizes our distinguished PWC First Responders.

We hosted a 4th of July Event in 2009 that honored Wounded Warriors and Blue Star Families.  This event was attended by over 300 people,

Post 364 has an association with the US Military Vets Motorcycle Club who meet at our facility and support us in our programs,

We held a POW/MIA Ceremony attended by dozens of citizens and 2 PWC Supervisors,

The Auxiliary held a ‘Salute to Women Veterans’, A December 2009 Toys for Tots Event raised over $5,000 in toys for needy kids,

Our SAL in conjunction with the USMVMC raised over $1,700 for Special Olympics

Post 364 sponsored 15 boys to attend Boys State this year

Post 364 has participated in the last 3 BRAC family events Our Post Service Officers assisted PWC Veterans with over 30 Veterans Administration related cases this year.

We provided $5,000 in scholarships to high school students in PWC

We provided awards and recognition for the Woodbridge High School Junior ROTC cadets at their annual awards ceremony.

We sponsored a Junior Shooters team that took first place in the Regional competition this year.

We sponsor an annual Easter, Halloween and Christmas Party for Children and Youth and invite the public to attend.

We hold an annual Flag Day Ceremony on June 14, to honorably retire unserviceable American Flags.  We held a ceremony yesterday evening and did so with the help of Boy Scout Troop 1367.  Please bring your unserviceable flags down to Post 364 for retirement.

American Legion Post 364 in Woodbridge, VA  and American Legion Post 162 in Lorton, VA partnered to host a ‘Wounded Warrior’ luncheon on 28 April, 2010.  The goal was much more than an excellent meal catered by Carrabba’s Italian Grill.  We envisioned putting the Business Community in touch with our Wounded Warriors, and were successful in doing that. 16 Companies participated in the luncheon with 25 Wounded Warriors and 5 Dependants.  We had over 130 people in attendance and raised over $12,000 for the Wounded Warrior Support Initiative with over two dozen corporate sponsors. This event at Woodbridge Post 364 was followed up with a subsequent Job Fair for Wounded Warriors on May 26th, 2010, also at Post 364.  We provide civilian employment opportunities for our Wounded Warriors, by putting them into direct contact with prospective employers.

I would like to thank Supervisor Stewart and Jenkins for their attendance at the WWSI Luncheon event, and am pleased to say that the PWC Police, Fire & Rescue, Human Resources, and Park Authority participated in the WWSI Job Fair at Post 364.

Post 364 has an active Bingo Program.  We play on Sundays at 2 PM and Mondays at 7:15 PM to help support Veteran and Community Programs.  Bingo is open to the public and we guarantee a $1000 jackpot each session.  We are located at 3640 Friendly Post Lane in Woodbridge.  Please come down and have fun playing Bingo, and visit our website at  We invite all wartime veterans and active duty members to join us.
