Frozen Chosin

62 years ago this month from 27 Nov to 13 Dec 1950,  the 1st Marine Division was fighting its way out of the Chosin (Changjin) Reservoir to the safety of Hungnam, destroying six Chinese Divisions in the process.  …This battle was a pivotal event in both the Korean War and the history of the Corps because it proved to the world that the United States Marines can defeat any enemy: any time, any place and under any conditions.

This event also served to inspire the attached short story (see file) and for those who’ve haven’t seen [it],  it describes what this epic battle may have looked like from a riflemen’s perspective, and for those who [have] please take a moment from your busy schedule, read the story and consider how just remarkable this experience was for these “Devil Dogs” who fought, lived and died so that others could have the opportunity to grow-up and prosper in a free society.
